Chair of the Diabetes Guidelines Suite, NiCE

Dr Waqaar Shah is a practicing physician and healthcare leader in the NHS with significant insights in patient care, social determinants of wellbeing, artificial intelligence, and systems executive functions. He is a GP based in London. Dr Shah is the chairman of the Diabetes Guidelines Suite at NICE. He has also chaired other guideline committees at NICE including Long COVID, Prostate Cancer, Glaucoma, Neonatal Infection, and Macular Degeneration. Dr Shah is a Clinical Director for Ophthalmology at NHS South West London where he provides leadership to this programme of commissioning, pathways redesign, and care quality.
